Ice Treasure Hunt

Ice can be used for more than just keeping your drinks cold during the summer. One way that you can keep your kids entertained for a few hours is to send them on an icy treasure hunt! All you need is a bucket or container that you can fill with water and put in your freezer overnight. Collect a few of your kids’ toys and place them in the container filled with water. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even add a little food coloring to make the treasure hunt more exciting. Once you have added the toys and the food coloring, place the container in the freezer and wait for it to fully solidify. When the ice has formed, take it out and give your little ones the tools they need to free their toys! Not only will they enjoy the challenge, but the ice will keep them nice and cool.

Water Obstacle Course

There’s no question that kids have endless amounts of energy, and it can be hard for them to use it when they are stuck inside. Creating a water obstacle course is a great way to beat the heat and use up some of your children’s energy. To make your obstacle course, you can use buckets of water, a pool, sprinklers, or even just the hose. The goal of the obstacle course is to have fun while also staying cool, so any form of water is acceptable. Set up stations that require your little ones to fetch pool rings from the bottom of the pool, swim around pool noodles, or use a sponge to fill a bucket with water as fast as they can! There are endless possibilities to what you can create with your water obstacle course.

With these suggestions, you’re sure to have endless hours of fun in the sun this summer. If you’re looking for more ways to keep your child entertained and engaged during the summer months, then Valley Child Care and Learning Centers has the solution.
