While fall is full of many different events and activities that you can experience, there is always one event this stands out above the rest — Halloween! When your child is little, they can’t enjoy Halloween to its full extent. However, once your child gets older, this October holiday will easily become their favorite. In today’s post, we will provide you with a few fun ideas that you can use this Halloween to make your little one’s holiday the best that it can be.
One of the best parts about Halloween is going to school and showing off your costume. At Valley Child Care and Learning Centers, we provide an environment where your little one can grow, learn, and most of all have fun! Whether you’re in search of a center for toddler care or preschool learning, we’ve got it all. Our curriculums are based on your child’s learning abilities, challenging them to reach their full potential. Valley Child Care and Learning Centers has 10 convenient locations in the Phoenix area, so if you’re ready to enroll your child in a learning center that you can trust, give us a call today!
Read Your Child a Halloween Story
Do you have the tradition of reading a book before your little one goes to bed each night? Instead of reading one of the same books for the millionth time, surprise your child with a Halloween-themed bedtime story! You can find a variety of child-friendly Halloween books at your local bookstore or online, and your child will love the themed stories that they can’t hear any other time of the year. If you want to make the month of October even more special, you can buy a few different Halloween books and read a different story every night!
Carve Pumpkins
Carving pumpkins is a tradition that never gets old, no matter how old you are, and it’s a great activity that you can do with the entire family. When fall rolls around, you can buy pumpkins pretty much anywhere, including the grocery store. However, if you want to take the activity to a whole new level, you can take your little one to a pumpkin farm and let them pick out their own pumpkin. Nothing is more exciting than seeing the process from start to finish, so once you have your pumpkin, let your little one help you with picking out the pattern and taking out the guts. You may want to do the actual carving yourself, but there are plenty of other areas where your kiddo can get involved.
Host a Halloween Party
One great way to help the experience last as long as possible is to host a Halloween party. There is a lot of work associated with hosting a party, so make sure that you’re ready to tackle the project. That being said, once all of the work is done, the payoff will be well worth it. Try to get your child involved in the planning process as much as possible, as being involved will help them enjoy it more, too. Take them to the store with you when you go to buy decorations and let them pick out something spooky to hang up inside. You can even get your kiddo involved by inviting them to help you with any treats that you decide to make for the party.
Go Trick-or-Treating
All of the fun prior to October 31 can’t compare to the excitement of the main event. Trick-or-treating is most likely your little one’s favorite part of Halloween. After all, who doesn’t love free candy? The day before Halloween, check to see when your neighborhood is doing trick-or-treating, as each town has a different set of hours for the event to take place. In order to avoid any scary interactions, you may want to take your child trick-or-treating closer to the beginning of the event. Make sure your child is aware of any rules that you have in place, such as staying with you and not wandering off. Once your kiddo knows their boundaries, you can relax and let them enjoy the big day!
